How to use
Recipe photos
Updated September 13, 2026
Add photos
- When creating or editing a recipe, go to Photos and choose Add photos.
- Pick one or more images from your phone or computer.
On a recipe you are editing, each photo is uploaded right away. On a new recipe, photos are uploaded when you choose Create recipe.
- Up to 10 photos per recipe.
- Formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF (only the first frame of an animation), up to 10 MB each.
- iPhone photos in HEIC are usually converted to JPEG by the phone when you pick them. If one is refused, export it as JPEG first.
Cover and order
The first photo is the cover, shown in the recipe list. To change it, choose Use as cover on another photo. On the recipe page, choose the thumbnails to see the other photos.
Remove
Choose the × on the photo. It is removed from the recipe and deleted from our servers.
What we do with your photos
Each photo is resized, rotated to the right orientation and saved in WebP, a lighter format. Location (GPS), camera and other details stored in the file are removed.
Photos are saved under a long random address that can't be guessed. They only show up to other people on recipes you share; see who can see your recipes.
