Routines, processes and habits

Updated September 14, 2026

Routines, processes and habits are origins that work for you. Create them in OrganizeNew origin.

Routines

A routine creates the tasks that repeat on fixed dates on its own.

  1. Choose the Routine type, the area and a name (for example, "House bills").
  2. Under When it happens, choose Repeats:
    • Every few days: every 1, 2, 3… days;
    • Weekly: tick the days of the week and, if you want, every how many weeks;
    • Monthly: choose the day of the month. Days 29, 30 and 31 fall on the last day of shorter months.
  3. Choose when it starts and, optionally, when it ends. The form shows the next dates right away.
  4. Under Task it creates, choose the nature and, optionally, the title and estimate. Without a title, the task uses the routine name.

LifeHub keeps the tasks for the next 7 days created, using your account's time zone. They show up in Today on the right day, with the routine as their origin.

  • Deleted a routine task? It doesn't come back.
  • Changed the schedule or the task? Open tasks from today on are recreated; done tasks stay as they are.
  • Paused the routine? Today's task stays; the next ones are removed. When you resume it, it creates tasks again from tomorrow.

Processes

A process is a checklist you repeat when needed, like "Close the month" or "Pack for a trip".

  1. Choose the Process type and add the steps. Each step has a title, a nature, how many days after the start it's due and, optionally, an estimate in minutes.
  2. When it's time, choose Start in the list of origins, check the start date and choose Create tasks.

Each step becomes a task, with the process as its origin.

Habits

A habit is a frequency you want to keep: Every day or Some days a week (1 to 6 times).

Active habits show up at the top of Today. Tick the box when you do it; untick to undo. Each habit shows:

  • Every day: whether it's done today and your streak of days in a row;
  • Times a week: how many times this week (Monday to Sunday) and your streak of weeks that met the goal.

Today or this week only counts toward the streak once the period's goal is met.
