How to use
The four coordinates of a task
Updated September 13, 2026
In LifeHub a task is more than a title. Four coordinates place it in your life, and later they power reports on where your time goes. All four are required, so choose New task and fill them in.
1. Area of life
The part of your life the task belongs to. LifeHub starts with Health, Family, Home, Finances and Career, and you can rename them or create your own in Organize.
2. Origin
Where the task comes from:
- a project, which has a beginning and an end;
- a process, a checklist you repeat when needed;
- a routine, which happens on fixed dates;
- a habit, a frequency you want to keep;
- or Loose, when it doesn't come from any of them.
When you choose an origin, the task takes that origin's area. You can still change the area afterwards.
3. Nature
The kind of effort the task asks for. The form shows a short description of each one:
| Nature | When to use | |---|---| | Execution | Hands-on work: doing the task itself. | | Decision | Choosing between options or giving a yes or no. | | Communication | Talking, replying or aligning with someone. | | Learning | Studying, researching or practicing. | | Waiting | Depends on someone else or on something happening. | | Maintenance | Keeping things running: bills, repairs, tidying up. | | Service | Attending to someone: clients, patients, family. | | Creation | Producing something new: writing, designs, ideas. | | Review | Checking, evaluating and replanning. | | Recovery | Resting and recharging on purpose. |
4. Responsible
Me, or Someone else. When it is someone else, write who. Tasks with the nature Waiting or with someone else responsible show up in the Waiting list, so you know what to follow up on.
